About the musicians

Julian Rowlands and Ros Stephen are both members of the UK’s leading
tango ensemble Tango Siempre. They have appeared together on Strictly
Come Dancing, Surprise Surprise and on CBeebie’s flagship children’s
music programme ZingZillas. They created the music for the Olivier
nominated hit show Midnight Tango and performed in its three national
tours and two West End runs. They have also produced and toured their
own successful music and dance shows “Subitango” and “Tangomotion”.
They have published numerous books of world music for Schott Music,
and Ros Stephen is the author of the award winning “Globetrotters’
series of music books for young players, published by Oxford
University Press. Ros has also had many original compositions included
in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music syllabus. As a
performer Ros regularly appears in West End Theatre, most recently in
“Sinatra” at the London Palladium, and on BBC television and radio.
Julian Rowlands is the UK’s leading performer on the Tango Bandoneon,
as well as a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger. He has
appeared on BBC1’s Strictly and The One Show and on Radio 3’s In Tune,
at the Royal Opera House, Wigmore Hall and other major theatre and
concert venues throughout the UK, performing with Tango Siempre and
with other artists including bass-baritone Erwin Schrott, the soloists
of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia,
David Juritz and Craig Ogden. Recent stage work includes “Flying into
Daylight” at the Live Newcastle and Mahagonny at the Royal Opera
House.
